The Department of Computer Science & Engineering was established in the year 1999 and since its inception, the department has experienced an exponential growth. The current intake is 120 for UG program respectively. The department have 21 eminent faculty members, each specialized in different domains of Computer Science and Engineering. In that 2 are Doctoral Degree faculty and 13 are pursuing a Doctoral degree in the same.

The aim of the department is to create an excellent graduate to work in the field of Computer Science & Engineering by providing quality education, innovative teaching methods and technical aids. The Wi-Fi enabled classrooms, state of the art infrastructure, and technical facilities such as well-equipped seminar hall for e-learning, support in achieving the department’s objective. We have well experienced, dedicated and highly qualified faculties who are the backbone of the department. The excellent academic performance of our students is due to high degree of involvement and dedication of our faculty. They give individual attention to the students and make them excel in curricular, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities. PROGRAM OUTCOMES (POs)
Engineering Graduates Will be able to:
1. Engineering knowledge: Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems.
2. Problem analysis: Identify, formulate, review research literature, and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering sciences.
3. Design/development of solutions: Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for the public health and safety, and the cultural, societal, and environmental consideration.
4. Conduct investigations of complex problems: Use research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions.
5. Modern tool usage: Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools including prediction and modeling to complex engineering activities with an understanding of the limitations.
6. The engineer and society: Apply reasoning informed by the contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to the professional engineering practice.
7. Environment and sustainability: Understand the impact of the professional engineering solutions in societal and environmental contexts, and demonstrate the knowledge of, and need for sustainable development.
8. Ethics: Apply ethical principles and commit to professional ethics and responsibilities and norms of the engineering practice.
9. Individual and team work: Function effectively as an individual, and as a member or leader in diverse teams, and in multidisciplinary settings.
10. Communication: Communicate effectively on complex engineering activities with the engineering community and with society at large, such as, being able to comprehend and write effective reports and design documentation, make effective presentations, and give and receive clear instructions.
11. Project management and finance: Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the engineering and management principles and apply these to one's own work, as a member and leader in a team, to manage projects and in multidisciplinary environments.
12. Life-long learning: Recognize the need for, and have the preparation and ability to engage in independent and life-long learning in the broadest context of technological change.
PROGRAM EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES (PEOs)
After 3-4 years of Graduation, the CSE Graduates will be able to:
 PEO 1: Successful and ethical professionals in IT and ITES industries contributing to societal progress.
 PEO 2: Engaged in life-long learning, adapting to changing technological scenarios.
 PEO 3: Communicate and work effectively in diverse teams and exhibit leadership qualities.
PROGRAM SPECIFIC OUTCOMES (PSOs)
After the successful completion of the program, the graduates will be able to:
 PSO 1: Analyze, design, implement and test innovative application software systems to meet the specified requirements.
 PSO 2: Understand and use systems software packages.
 PSO 3: Understand the organization and architecture of digital computers, embedded systems and computer networks.

Admission Highlights

Admission to first year B.E. course in Vemana Institute of Technology is available for candidates through CET/COMED-K and Management Quota as per the norms specified by Government of Karnataka and VTU from time to time.

Admission to First Year

Admission to the first year shall be open for the candidates who:

 Have passed the Second year Pre-University Examination conducted by the Karnataka State Pre-University Board with Science Subjects.
 10 + 2 of the CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) / ICSE (Indian Certificate of Secondary Education)
 Any other equivalent examination recognized by the University.

Eligibility

The candidate should have secured an aggregate of 45% with Physics & Mathematics as a Parth of the subjects, along with one of the following subjects:-

 Chemistry
 Biotechnology
 Computer Science
 Biology & Electronics

Eligibility criteria for candidates belonging to SC/ST and OBC are 40% in optional subjects. The candidate must have had appeared and cleared English as one of the subjects.

Admission to Second Year (Lateral Entry)

Diploma or equivalent degree holders can apply for admission in the second year provided that they must have secured 50% in their final year examination. For SC/ST and OBC, the criteria are 45%, in case the candidate has secured less than the eligibility, must clear the bridge courses as specified by the Bangalore University.
