Christ University Ghaziabad

CHRIST (Deemed to be University) was born out of the educational vision of St Kuriakose Elias Chavara, an educationalist and social reformer of the nineteenth century in South India. He founded the first Catholic indigenous congregation, Carmelites of Mary Immaculate (CMI), in 1831, which administers CHRIST (Deemed to be University). Established in 1969 as Christ College, it undertook path-breaking initiatives in Indian higher education with the introduction of innovative and modern curricula, insistence on academic discipline, imparting of Holistic Education and adoption of global higher education practices with the support of creative and dedicated staff. The University Grants Commission (UGC) of India conferred Autonomy to Christ College in 2004 and identified it as an Institution with Potential for Excellence in 2006. In 2008 under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956, the Ministry of Human Resource Development of the Government of India, declared the institution a Deemed to be University, in the name and style of Christ University. One of the first institutions in India to be accredited in 1998 by the NAAC, and subsequently in 2004 and 2016, CHRIST (Deemed to be University) has the top grade ‘A’ in the 4-point scale.The multi-disciplinary University which focuses on teaching research and service offers Bachelors to Doctoral programmes in humanities, social sciences, science, commerce, management, engineering, education, and law to over 21000 students. The campus is a living example for the harmonious multiculturalism with students from all the states of India and around 60 different countries. CHRIST (Deemed to be University) publishes six peer-reviewed research journals and has published more than 300 books in Kannada and English. A promoter of sports, music and literary activities, it is a nurturing ground for creative excellence

According to India Today MDRA Survey of Excellence National Rankings, Best Colleges of India - Christ University is Ranked 1 for BCA Programme, Ranked 4 for BBA, Ranked 7 for Commerce, Ranked 7 for Media and Social works, Ranked 9 for Arts.

Christ was one of the first institutions in India to be accredited in 1998 by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), and subsequently in 2004, 2016 and 2022 had been awarded Grade 'A+' on 4-point scale.

OFFICE OF FINANCIAL AID AND SCHOLARSHIPS
Objective:
The office's mission is to recognise meritorious students in academics and co-curricular activities by means of scholarship during the course of their academic pursuits in CHRIST (Deemed to be University).
The office awards scholarships for Merit and for Sports, Co-curricular and extracurricular activities.

Scholarship

Merit Scholarship: A student with a brilliant academic record, having secured First Class in all the previous semesters with a minimum 70% aggregate marks and a minimum of 85% attendance is eligible to apply. The scholarship per student can vary between Rs 1,000 to Rs 10,000 for the eligible students in each class.

Scholarships for excellence in sports, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities - A student with a good academic record, without any arrears and who has minimum of 85% attendance and who is actively associated with CSA/NCC/ACC/SWO/STUDENT COUNCIL or SPORTS activities of the University or represented the University in events outside the campus and the certificate supporting his/her application for the year 2022-23 is eligible to apply. This is a nominative award based on the recommendation of the concerned Student Office Coordinators in charge. The scholarship per student can vary between Rs 1,000 to Rs 10,000 for the eligible students..

The scholarship will consist of a percentage refund of fees.

Christ Delhi NCR campus is a constituent of Christ (deemed-to-be University). Accredited by the NAAC with Grade ‘A’, this is a private campus located in Ghaziabad. Formerly known as Christ Institute of Management, this campus offers over 20 UG, PG and doctoral-level courses across a number of fields such as Management, Law, Science, Arts, Commerce & Accounting and Computers & IT.

Unlike a majority of universities and institutes, this campus of Christ deemed-to-be University offers a trimester system across all its courses. This format gives the students a glimpse of the pace and quality of work that is expected to be delivered by them in the outside world. Admissions usually begin in April for all UG and PG programmes and in October for the next academic year’s MBA. One of the chief USPs of this deemed-to-be University is its Centre for Counselling and Health Services, which is a student-support service aiming at helping students adapt and make the best use of the learning environment. Apart from just focusing on academic counselling, it also provides personal counselling and multiple services to foreign students.
