UCEED 2026: Important Dates, Syllabus, Pattern
UCEED is the Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination for Design. It is a big test held all over India by IIT Bombay for students who wish to study design after class 12th. If you want to become a designer and get admission in top colleges like IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Hyderabad, or IIITDM Jabalpur, then you must clear UCEED.
This is not a common type of examination; it does not test how much one has studied from books. The test will judge your creativity, problem-solving skills, and the way you think and perceive things around you. UCEED 2026 Eligibility Criteria
Understanding the criteria to apply for the UCEED-2026 is very important.
- You should have passed or appeared for the Class 12th board examination in 2026 or 2025 for the first time.
- You may be from a science, commerce, or arts stream.
- You are allowed to give this test only twice in two years.
- There is also an age limit: You need to be born on or after October 1, 2001, for the General, EWS, and OBC categories, while for the applicants of SC, ST, or PwD categories, the date of birth must be on or after October 1, 1996.
- Eligibility: Indian and foreign students are eligible.
It means that the fresh students or recent pass-outs get a chance, and everybody gets an equal opportunity.
UCEED Exam 2026 Pattern
The UCEED Exam Pattern consists of two parts: Part A and Part B.
Part A: Computer-Based Test (2 hours)
This section is composed of 57 questions in total; you answer them on the computer. It measures your thinking skills and your creativity.
The three kinds of questions include:
- Numerical Answer Type (NAT): You will be typing a number as an answer (14 questions).
- Multiple Select Questions (MSQ): More than one answer may be correct and you must check all that apply. (15 questions)
- Multiple Choice Questions MCQ: There is only one correct answer and you select it. (28 questions)
- Total marks = 200
Some questions give points for correct answers and take some away for wrong answers.
Part B: Drawing Test (1 hour)
This section is offline. You have two questions that you answer by drawing on paper.
- One of the questions asks you to sketch/draw something.
- The other question tests your design thinking-through drawing.
- Total marks = 100
- You have to clear the first part for your Part B answers to be marked. The answers all combine to arrive at the final score out of 300 marks.
The exam in total lasts for 3 hours and is held in English.

The UCEED syllabus is divided into two components, reflecting the dual nature of the exam:
Part A Syllabus (Computer-Based Section)
Visualization and Spatial Reasoning
- Ability to visualize 2-D shapes and 3-D objects and to understand relationships and transformations such as rotations, reflections, and scaling.

Language and Creativity
- Comprehension of English grammar, vocabulary, and sentence formation
- Creative thinking, metaphor interpretation, and language-based reasoning
Practical and Scientific Knowledge
- Applying fundamental scientific principles from everyday experiences.
- The properties of materials and their application in design.
Syllabus Part B (Drawing and Design Aptitude)
- Use sketches to visually depict ideas of objects, people, or scenes.
- Multiple rough sketches and final drawings demonstrate creativity and ideation.
- Problem-solving through designing solutions
- Storytelling and communication of design concepts.
- Material understanding, proportions, perspective, shadows, and textures.

UCEED Registration 2026?

- Please fill in your educational and address details in the application form.
- Choose three of your preferred test center locations where you would take the examination.
- Upload your photograph, signature, 10th and 12th certificates, along with category/disability certificates, if applicable.
- Pay the application fee through online mode by using a debit card/credit card/ net banking.
- Click "Submit," then download your confirmation page.
Fees and Important Dates
Regular Fee: ₹ 4,000/- for General candidates, ₹ 2,000/- for Women Candidates, SC/ST & PwD.
Late fees: ₹500 extra if you miss the deadline.
