How to Register for XAT 2027

All the registration is online and it is conducted through XAT official website (xatonline.in). The way to do it is:

1. Register with your name, email ID and mobile number.

XAT Exam Pattern 2027

The XAT exam consists of two parts and is a 180 minute computer-based test in English. It contains approximately 95 multiple choice questions.

Part 1 (170 minutes) covers three scored sections:

• Verbal and Logical Ability (VALR): about 26 questions

• Decision Making (DM): about 21 questions

• Quantitative Ability and Data Interpretation (QA & DI): about 28 questions

Part 2 (10 minutes) is the General Knowledge section with about 20 questions, roughly 12 on current affairs and 8 on static GK.

Marking Scheme and Negative Marking.

• Each correct answer in Part 1 earns +1 mark.

• Each incorrect response is given 0.25 marks.

• You can leave up to 8 questions unattempted without penalty. In addition, 0.1 marks are deducted for every question not attempted.

There is no negative marking in the GK section and no counting of GK marks in XAT percentile. They are only taken into account in the later stages of the selection process in XLRI.

• Verbal and Logical Ability: Reading comprehension (including abstract topics, poems and even cartoons), critical reasoning, para-jumbles, sentence correction, vocabulary in context, arrangements and puzzles and data sufficiency sets of logical reasoning.

• Decision Making: Case-based scenarios with ethical dilemmas, business situations and stakeholder conflicts. There are also some questions that include conditions and constraints for analytical decision making. There is no single "right" answer, you must choose the most balanced and defensible answer.

• Quantitative Ability: Arithmetic (percentages, ratio, time, speed, work, profit and loss), algebra, geometry, mensuration, number systems, permutation and combination, probability, DI (caselets) with table, chart and graph.

1. Develop solid conceptual foundations: Focus on fundamental arithmetic, algebra, and formal english grammar principles in the early stages of preparation.

2. Separate the Decision-Making Section: Tackle DM caselets in a detached manner. Address extreme options, ethical concerns, and ensure long-term business interests for stakeholders.

3. Learn About Time Allocation Strategies; use the fact that there are no sectional limitations in part 1. Create a time budget plan–for example, 50 minutes for VALR, 45 minutes for DM and 75 minutes for QA & DI, with buffer time to return to difficult questions.
