Ramachandran International Institute of Management, Pune, provides a 2-year full-time course in PGDM. The program is AICTE New Delhi-approved, and this program is totally autonomous. Moreover, this PGDM is not similar to any university MBA program. The sole reason for its existence is the requirements of the industries. Ramachandran International Institute of Management has been providing this course since 2014.
The PGDM courses have more emphasis on ‘learning by doing’ rather than ‘learning by theory.’ Almost 70% of the course content comprises ‘learning by doing,’ whereas the remaining 30% comprises classroom sessions. This helps the students understand the real-world business environment and also prepares them for the first day at work.
One of the biggest strengths of PGDM is the Advanced Employability & Leadership Development Programme conducted by RIIM. This comprises over 500 hours of skill development programs. The students get exposure to over 20 different certifications, such as Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Digital Marketing, SAP, Six Sigma Green Belt, Business Analytics, Power BI, Advanced Excel, and Soft Skills Training.
Students can select their areas of specialisation according to their plans for future careers. Their choices can be from Marketing, Finance, Human Resources, Operations & Supply Chain, Pharmaceutical Management, Agri-Business Management, and General Management. All areas of specialisation have been developed according to the latest industry needs.
Marketing includes topics such as digital marketing, consumer behavior, marketing, retail, FMCG, sales, and sales management. Finance includes topics such as investment, banking, risk, fintech, and financial analysis. It covers topics such as talent, employee relations, remuneration, and organizational development. Operations includes topics such as logistics, quality, and SCM.
RIIM also provides PGDM courses with International Business Exposure. These include international study experiences like Dubai Immersion, which provides knowledge about international trade, international markets, and cross-cultural business practices. Fees for the courses depend upon the specialization pursued as well as international exposure.
The PGDM course consists of six trimesters. They learn core subjects such as Quantitative Techniques, Economics, Organizational Behavior, Marketing, Finance, HR, Operations, Strategy, and Business Ethics. Their learning process involves live projects, case studies, and industry assignments.
Internship programs for students are for a period of 2 to 3 months. RIIM has also introduced industrial visits to both public and private companies for students. National business plan competitions are also available for students as part of entrepreneurship skills acquisition.
The institute conducts national outgoing and overseas exposure programs to Dubai, London, and France, along with different workshops and activities. Guest lectures by professionals from IIM, IIT, and leading companies are a regular feature in this PGDM program.
Students should have a bachelor's degree minimum of 50% marks (45% for reserved categories). Additionally, scores of national entrance tests are valid. They should not possess relevant job experience. The process of admission includes short-listing, group discussion, personal interview, and academics. RIIM also provides scholarships based on merit, academic records, economic requirements, and for Single Girl Children.
The placement opportunities available to PGDM students are very good. Every year, 70–80% of students are placed successfully. More than 300 companies come to the campus, and they include large banks, consulting giants, IT giants, and large Pharma companies. The average package starts from 5.5–6.5 LPA, and the highest package goes up to 13-14 LPA.
